₹4.2 Cr DST Grant for Biotech & AI Labs
Department of Science & Technology sanctions ₹4.2 crore for a joint project on AI-assisted diagnostics for rural clinics, led by Dr. Neha Agarwal and Dr. Amit Sharma.
A joint proposal from the Department of Biotechnology and the School of Computer Science has won a ₹4.2 crore grant under DST's Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems programme.
The project
AI models trained on 40,000 anonymised pathology images to assist PHC technicians in early detection of anaemia and sickle-cell patterns — deployable on a ₹15,000 tablet with 80% accuracy in field tests.
Student roles
12 B.Tech and B.Sc students will be inducted as research interns (₹10,000 stipend). Publications and field pilots in Greater Noida PHCs from January 2026.
