Rhythm is the part everyone feels before they understand it.
Drumming is the most physical music we teach, and the most immediately satisfying — within your first lesson you will play a beat. From there we build the four-way coordination that makes a kit drummer feel effortless, and the groove sense that makes the other musicians in the room lean in.
We teach on an acoustic kit and an electronic practice kit, and we cover rock, pop, funk, and light Latin styles. Reading drum notation is part of the course, but we introduce it through patterns you are already playing, so it never feels abstract.
What you will learn
- Stick technique and a relaxed, repeatable grip
- The rock beat, the pop beat, and how to vary both
- Four-way coordination, built up one limb at a time
- Fills, breaks, and how to serve the song rather than the show-off
- Playing with a click and a band — groove over speed
A drummer who plays the song is worth ten who play the drums.
We have a practice kit available for students without one at home, bookable through the studio.
