Begin with the instrument that teaches harmony to your hands.
The piano is where most musicians meet music theory in the friendliest possible way — laid out in front of you in black and white. Our Piano Foundations course is built for absolute beginners and returning players alike. We start not with a method book, but with a single note: how to strike it, how to listen to it, and how to let it fade.
From there we move at your pace. You will learn comfortable hand posture, the geography of the keyboard, and how to read notation without it feeling like a puzzle. Within the first month most students are playing simple two-hand pieces and, more importantly, recognising what they are playing.
What you will study
- Posture, hand shape, and tension-free technique from the first lesson
- Note reading and rhythm, taught through pieces rather than drills
- Simple scales and the chords that open the most repertoire
- Listening skills — hearing a melody before you play it
- Two-hand coordination, introduced gradually and without strain
The goal of the first year is not a grade. It is the moment a student sits at the keyboard at home and plays, unprompted, because they want to.
Lessons are one-to-one, weekly, and held in our acoustically treated studio rooms. Parents of younger students receive a short written note after each lesson so the practice week is clear.
