Ananya is the studio's piano and theory lead, and the teacher most adult beginners ask for. She studied piano performance at the Bangalore School of Music and spent three years accompanying choirs before turning to teaching full-time. Her students range from six-year-olds at their first keyboard to engineers in their forties rediscovering a childhood instrument.
Teaching philosophy
Ananya believes theory is best taught through pieces, not pages. A new chord means a new song that uses it; a new scale means a melody that needs it. Her lessons are calm, structured, and quietly demanding — she has high standards and the patience to help you meet them.
I would rather a student play one piece beautifully than five pieces correctly.
She runs the studio's twice-yearly student recitals and writes the theory worksheets most of the faculty use.
