Mira is the studio's drummer and the loudest laugh in the building. She plays in an indie band that tours the college circuit and has sessioned on more recordings than she can count. She teaches drums as a way of teaching rhythm — which, she will tell you, is the part everyone feels before they understand it.
Teaching philosophy
Mira teaches groove before speed. You will play a real beat in your first lesson, and you will play it to a click, because the goal is not to play fast but to play steady. She is brilliant at four-way coordination, the part of drumming that ties beginners in knots, and she has a way of building it one limb at a time until it feels easy.
A drummer's job is to make everyone else feel in time. Everything else is decoration.
She runs the studio's practice-kit booking and can advise on a first kit for home.
