Voice & Vocal Health

Tara Subramaniam

Voice building, breath, and singing that lasts a lifetime.

Tara Subramaniam, voice faculty

Tara is a classically trained singer who works across contemporary and devotional repertoire. She trained in Carnatic and Western voice and holds a certification in vocal health, which means she is the teacher you want if singing has ever hurt, or if you want to make sure it never does.

Teaching philosophy

Tara starts with breath. Every voice issue she sees — strain, thin tone, a range that will not extend — traces back to how a singer is breathing. Her lessons are gentle and exacting in equal measure. She is especially good with nervous singers and with adults who were told, years ago, that they could not sing.

The voice you have is the one worth training. Comparison is the thief of range.

She sees students from age ten upward and is careful with voices in transition.
