The piano is the most generous instrument we teach. It lays the whole of music out in front of you — twelve notes, repeating, in black and white — and asks only that you learn to listen. There is a reason it is where most musicians first understand chords, scales, and how a melody sits on a harmony.
At Cadenza House we teach piano to complete beginners and to players returning after years away. Our studio rooms have both acoustic uprights and weighted digital pianos, and we will help you choose an instrument for home practice that fits your space and budget.
Is the piano right for you?
It is right for almost everyone. Children as young as six can begin with patient, playful lessons, and adults who have never read a note are some of our most committed students. The piano is also the ideal second instrument for anyone who wants to understand music theory, because you see it as you hear it.
What you will need
- A keyboard or piano for practice — even a 61-key digital piano is enough to begin
- A metronome (a free phone app is fine)
- A notebook for lesson notes and the week's practice plan
