Open Mic Evening

Once a month we take over the back room at The Reading Room café and turn it into a stage. The open mic is for everyone — current students testing a song in front of people for the first time, former students who keep meaning to play again, and friends from the neighbourhood who just want to listen. You do not have to be a student to perform.

How it works

Sign up at the door from 7:00 PM. Slots are two songs or eight minutes, whichever comes first. We have a vocal mic, a guitar input, and a small keyboard. Bring your own instrument if you can; we have a house guitar for anyone who needs one. The room holds about forty people and it is usually full.

Practical details

• When: Second Saturday of every month, 7:30 PM start (April 11 this round)
• Where: The Reading Room, 12A Main, Indiranagar, Bengaluru
• Entry: Free — the café runs a one-drink minimum for the room
• To perform: Arrive by 7:00 PM and put your name on the list

It is the friendliest room in the city to play your first song in front of people. We promise.
