Sajid's hind leg, rebuilt after a hit-and-run

A passing rider found Sajid dragging his back leg on the Baner bypass. Surgery is done; the long foster stretch has just begun.

A passing rider found Sajid dragging his back leg along the Baner bypass and called our helpline. X-rays showed a clean mid-shaft femur fracture — the kind that needs surgery, not rest.

Our vet placed an intramedullary pin. The surgery went smoothly, and Sajid is now eight weeks into crate rest — the boring, necessary part of bone healing. He is allowed two five-minute walks a day and is coping with the confinement better than most.

The foster stretch

Sajid needs another four weeks of restricted movement, then slow rehabilitation. We are looking for a foster home with no stairs and a patient person. The pin will be removed once the bone has bridged.
