Three days in the desert for two people who love a slow morning and a late night — music, food, and light held together by a story that was theirs alone.
Anandi (architect) and Kabir (documentary editor) didn't want a “theme.” They wanted a feeling — warm, a little wild, deeply hospitable. We took the fort's sandstone and the desert's winter light and let everything else be soft and modern.
The weekend
- Day 1 — Dusk: Welcome at Suryagarh's courtyard with Sufi music at sunset, low tables, and a kitchens-open supper.
- Day 2 — Sangeet: A black-box sangeet in the ballroom — mirror, light, and a dance floor that stayed full because we kept speeches to three.
- Day 3 — Dune Dinner: Buses to a private dune. 280 low seats, one long table, a thousand lanterns, and a film the couple hadn't seen.
How we kept it personal
Every print used Kabir's handwriting. Every menu card named a place the couple had travelled together. And the sangeet film was cut from 40 hours of family phone footage — not a highlight reel, but a memory.
