A coastal home dissolving the threshold between interior and garden, anchored by a stone plinth and oak canopy.

Verdant House sits on a coastal lot where the garden is the home's greatest asset. We organized the plan so every principal room opens onto a sheltered courtyard, with sliding oak-and-glass panels that pocket away to merge interior and exterior.

A continuous stone plinth in locally quarried Carmel stone runs from the interior floor directly out into the garden, blurring the line between inside and out. Above, a canopy of hand-finished oak beams shelters the main living space and frames views of the coastal oaks.

The interiors are deliberately quiet — limewashed walls, solid oak joinery, and linen upholstery — so the shifting light and greenery outside become the primary ornament. A study tucked beneath the eaves offers the home's one enclosed, introspective space.
