When to go, where to stay, and the one temple you should reach before 7am — from our Bali team that lives there half the year.
1. Don’t chase the whole island
Two bases are better than four. Ubud for jungle and temples, Uluwatu or Seminyak for beach time. You’ll waste less time in traffic and actually remember the places you slept.
2. Arrive at Tegallalang at 7am
By 9am the terraces are full of tripods. At seven, you have the light, the mist, and the sound of water in the channels. Walk down, not just look over.
3. The E-Visa is simple — if your passport has two clean pages
Indian passports can use E-Visa on Arrival at Ngurah Rai — apply online within 14 days of travel, pay IDR 500k, and keep your return ticket handy. We check every page before you fly.
4. Pick a driver who explains, not just drives
Our drivers are licensed guides who adjust the day for ceremonies — a cremation in Ubud or a temple anniversary can close a road, but also give you a story you didn’t plan for.
5. Learn two words and use them
Om Swastiastu (hello) and Suksma (thank you) go a long way in villages. Smile first.
6. Leave a half-day empty in Uluwatu
That empty half-day is when you’ll actually swim, nap, and notice the light turning gold on the limestone. Don’t programme it.
7. Pack light, taste everything
From martabak stalls to Jimbaran grills, the best meals are not always in the guidebook. Tell us your spice level — we mark the warungs accordingly.
