A Rain Garden for a Jaipur Plot

On a dense plot in Malviya Nagar we kept the old mango and cut a 20 sq m bioswale around it. Monsoon water now stays on site, sinks slowly and waters the tree through winter.

Brick-on-edge and gravel keep the plot permeable; the house's plinth doubles as a bench for evening tea under the mango. Small moves, long shade.
