Abhyanga β€” Warm Oil Ritual

Warm herbal oil being poured for Abhyanga massage

β‚Ή2,800 Β· 60 mins, includes herbal steam

Abhyanga is the cornerstone of Ayurvedic bodywork β€” warm herbal oil applied in long, rhythmic strokes by one or two therapists in sync. At Sattva Grove we use organic cold-pressed sesame infused with brahmi and ashwagandha, heated to just above body temperature.

Unlike a deep-tissue massage, Abhyanga is not about forcing release. It is about inviting it. The nervous system softens, the breath deepens, and the skin β€” your largest organ β€” is nourished for days after.

What to expect

  • 10 mins: arrival tea, dosha check-in and oil selection (Vata/Pitta/Kapha blends differ)
  • 45 mins: four-hand synchronised massage β€” scalp, face, limbs, back and abdomen
  • 15 mins: herbal steam (swedana) in a wooden steam box, followed by gentle rinse
β€œSneha β€” oil β€” also means love. An Abhyanga is love returned to the body.”

Best for

  • Dryness, joint stiffness, light sleep, anxiety, travel fatigue
  • Seasonal transitions (especially autumn and early winter)

We recommend a series of three weekly sessions for cumulative effect. Wear comfortable cotton; we provide draping and disposable undergarments. Arrive 10 minutes early for tea.
