Courtyard House, Alwar
A courtyard house in hot-arid Alwar with deep verandahs, jali screens and a rain-fed garden.

Set on a tight 1,800 sq ft plot, the house turns inward to a planted courtyard. Thick brick walls, Kota stone floors and a pergola of steel and lime keep the interiors 6°C cooler than outside.
Water from the roof is harvested into an underground cistern; greywater feeds the garden. All joinery is in reclaimed teak with brass detailing.
