Community Kitchen for Winter
Every winter, thousands of migrant workers from northern Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states live in cramped camps near the construction sites around Madurai. Wages stop when the rain starts, and families — including many children — go to bed hungry.
Since 2022 our community kitchen has served a hot, nutritious evening meal to these families. This winter we aim to serve 600 people every single day for 120 days: a meal of rice, sambar, vegetables and a seasonal fruit, cooked in our licensed kitchen and delivered hot to four worksite camps.
Where the money goes
- ₹4,50,000 — grains, vegetables and provisions for 120 days
- ₹3,20,000 — kitchen staff and delivery vehicles
- ₹2,80,000 — fuel, cooking gas and packaging
- ₹1,50,000 — winter blankets and warm clothes for children
We publish accounts every month on our news page, and every donor receives a receipt eligible for 80G tax exemption.
