Volunteers packing meals at the community kitchen

On 1 September, the meal counter at our community kitchen ticked past 50,000. The 50,000th meal — rice, sambar, brinjal poriyal and a banana — was packed and delivered to the Pallapatti worksite camp by a volunteer who has been with the kitchen since day one.

The kitchen started in November 2022 with two volunteers and a rented gas stove, serving 120 meals a night. Today it operates through the year with a licensed kitchen, a small paid staff and a volunteer roster of 60 people. When winter rains begin, the daily count rises to 600 meals served at four worksite camps.

If you would like to stand in the serving line with us, our winter campaign is open — every meal costs ₹40, and every rupee reaches the plate.
