1,200 Children Return to School After Enrolment Drive

For two months, our field teams walked every street of 14 villages with a simple question: “Which child in this house is not in school, and why?” The answers came back the same way everywhere — transport costs, uniforms, or simply no one to take the child to the school gate.

The response was an enrolment drive built with the village education committees. We arranged shared autorickshaw transport where schools were far, provided two sets of uniforms and school bags through donor funds, and assigned each returning child a “buddy” from our evening centres for the first term.

By 30 August, 1,207 children were seated in classrooms for the new academic year — 620 of them girls. Our coordinators will track attendance weekly through December and follow up with families where children begin to drift away.
